Default Well, well, well. . .

What have we here? Poked around the site a bit and me likey! Too bad I didn't sign in as Laurie--I think I shall drop the Mala persona and be myself here. Seems cozy that way.

And Ormand--Love this! "Again, this forum is meant for all walks of life, including women." I've never heard womanhood referred to as a voluntary walk one pursues, but I'm digging it.

So let's see...a Laurie-sans-Mala intro would go something like this: I like food (it's Ormand's site; naturally I would start out with some demi-food-narrative) though I've always been slightly suspicious of it. New fudz give me an adrenalin rush in that oh-my-god-I've-committed-to-this-terrifying-unknown-thing-what-if-I-don't-like-it-now-my-armpits-are-twitchy-with-nervousness. I hate cheese though I've allowed a few types to slip through, so I sorta buy into the whole mold thing now. Fungus, though, never. neVeR.

I'm creative. Write poetry--even published in peer-reviewed journals so you know it ain't that AngelsCryingInTheRainOhThePain chit that I hate so much. Been guest poet at Barnes & Noble a few times, but I'm off the "circuit" now. To continue doing that would be like...well, like trying to remain in a perpetual state of puberty. Also write short stories about kooky chit. Love to make the familiar unfamiliar. I used to work on silver; now I stick to beadwork and found object art. It's one of the reasons I'm an inveterate dumpster-diver. Love building Halloween props! Despite being a Baptist preacher's daughter, I love all things autumnal and Halloweenish.

Currently, I'm trying to learn how to play an erhu, but...well, meh. Don't ask about it. My secret passion is sneaking a peek into people's fridges. It ruins it, though, if I get caught.

Been homeless for a bit, was a step-grandma at 18, did undergrad work at The University of Arizona, I'm weak for romantical manga and anime, currently trying to learn Japanese, so I can work some translating gigs in the future, would like to move to the outskirts of Seattle in a few years so I can buy some woodsy property with an old barn to convert into a house--it would be perfect if I could put in a zip line to swing down from a top window, have a huge green thumb--I'm trying to (abortively) reproduce Moody Gardens in my backyard, played piano for 8 years, have done karaoke in my helmet (yeah, yeah, I ride motorcycles, blah, blah), hope to someday own a ring-tailed lemur, next week I start Aikido lessons, and I collect canned corn from around the world just because I can.

Anything else ya wanna know, just ask. Glad to be here!

Women are fickle but we encourage all kinds of people, including vaginas and sandy vaginas

Good introduction! Yes, it is naturally expected of you to dish out your deelishes and not-so-deelishes on here. Tonight we went to Red Onion Cafe (kirby/59) for the 1st time and it was deelish although the chicken was too salty. I don't like over-salted chicken breasts...it kills the sauces and spices that are found in the dish. The fried plaintain and the tortilla chips were good, especially with opposing dipping sauces: standard yet sweetened tomato salsa and a peculiar pineapple salsa that was naturally sweetened but unaturally spiced.

Very interesting...I didn't know this about you. I don't know if you or others would understand but when I was 18 and living in NJ, I always wanted to live on the street for a day or 2 in NYC just to see what it was like. I never did but I always wanted to when I was younger. Have you watched Gunslinger Girl? The weather in Seatle is overly-depressing...you should go visit Vancouver. The weather is the same but its a whole different scene, perhaps a bit more bland but with a little San Francisco mixed in

Ohh you should have told me about the canned corn thing...I can bring some back for you next time I'm in Canada
